Gulf of Maine Chlorophyll Concentration Anomaly images of the surface ocean layer are presented here as 8-day and monthly composites.  Anomalies are calculated as the difference between the log-scaled composite and log-scaled climatological image and are reported in units of log (base 10) milligrams per cubic meter. The color white represents land and black represents areas where no data were available (typically due to obstruction by cloud cover). Blue shades indicate areas where the log chlorophyll concentration was lower than the climatological average, and red shades indicate where it was higher. Negative values on the color bar serve only to indicate a negative difference, not a negative log concentration.   Please select the Product Type and Year to retrieve a thumbnail listing of available images. Clicking on a thumbnail will display the image full size. This library is updated monthly.
