Gulf of Maine MODIS (Aqua & Terra) imagery are presented here as daily pass data and monthly composites. The offical starting date of this archive is Nov 1, 2005. Monthly composites are posted at the end of each month. Only limited quality control has been applied. Please take this fact into consideration when trying to interpret these data.

The chlorophyll product provided here is MODIS chlor_a (OC3M) and the SST product is calculated using the MODIS 11 micron non-linear SST algorithm.

The MODIS data streams provided on this website are downloaded real-time from an on-site x-band receiving station at the University of Maine. Real-time products are posted the same day as the satellite overpass, and are generated using the closest available ancillary data. Raw telemetry is downloaded from the Aqua and Terra satellites using SeaSpace Terascan software. Geophysical products are generated using SeaDAS software, and default NASA coefficients.
